If you are experencing symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection, a medical professional will be available to discuss an evaluation plan and/or determine next steps.
Testing and Treatment at Health Center 1 - You can come to HC1 any time during the days and hours we are open. There are no appointments for STD tests. Just drop in! Depending on the day, how long you have to wait can change. If you want to be sure you're seen, come earlier in the day rather than later.
When you get to HC1, you'll be greeted by someone at the front window. They will ask some questions and you will complete a registration form. The receptionist will also ask to see your ID. To make sure your personal information on this form is kept private, the receptionist will give you a numbered ticket. While at the clinic, the staff will refer to you by the number on the ticket rather than your name. This is to protect your privacy and confidentiality.
You can relax in the waiting room until your ticket number is called. When your number is called, you will first see someone who will draw your blood for testing. Next, you will be placed in an exam room and seen by a doctor or nurse. The doctor or nurse will ask about your sexual history, explain the exam process, do a full STD test, and perform lab tests as needed. If you need it they will give you medication.
If you have an STD, another staff person may speak to you for counseling. This includes a chat about how to talk to your sexual partners about your STD diagnosis and how to prevent new STDs.
If you test positive for an STD, treatment at our health center is free! It is very important to get treated and to get your partners treated as well.
