Gonorrhea

Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) that can be caused by a bacteria. The bacteria can infect the urethra, the tube that carries pee and cum out of the penis. Gonorrhea can also infect the throat and butthole. Infections of the throat and butthole are very common! 

How do I get gonorrhea?

It is picked up or passed on through anal, oral or vaginal sex without a condom. The bacteria likes to live in parts of your body like the urethra, butthole, throat or vagina. If the guy you're having sex with has gonorrhea, he can pass it to any one of these areas depending on the kind of sex you have. For example, if you only give BJs, you can have gonorrhea in your throat and not in your butthole or penis. But if you give BJs, top and bottom, you can have gonorrhea in your throat, butthole and/or penis. 

How do I know if I have gonorrhea?

Many people who have gonorrhea don't know because they don't have symptoms. If you have symptoms, you may have a burning sensation when you pee or sometimes a pus-like discharge from your penis. Sometimes, your balls can swell and be very painful. However, not everyone has symptoms. If you have gonorrhea in your butthole or throat, you will be even less likely to know you have it. 

Guys who bottomed with a partner who has gonorrhea can experience an itchy butthole or discomfort. If you have given a blow job to a partner who has gonorrhea, you may get a sore throat, but most of the time, you don't feel a throat infection.  

How do I test for gonorrhea?

To know if you have gonorrhea, you should have a test done for all the parts of your body that have come in contact with a penis, butt or throat. This means that you should have a pee test or a swab of your penis, and/or a throat and butt swab, depending on the kind of sex you have. These are simple and painless ways to know if you have it. What do I do if I have gonorrhea? 

If you test positive for gonorrhea, you will be given medicine to kill the bacteria (antibiotics). Treatment is a shot and pills. This will clear the bacteria that causes gonorrhea whether it is found in your throat, butthole or penis. 

You can get gonorrhea again so it is important not to have sex with the same person again unless you know he received medication for gonorrhea. You should not have sex with anyone if you or your guy have symptoms of gonorrhea. The medication needs time to work. If you want to be sure you don't pass on gonorrhea, don't have sex with anyone for at least 7 days after you took your medicine.  

Having gonorrhea once and getting it treated does not mean you will not get gonorrhea again. It is really important to tell your partners about a positive test so that you can make sure they get treated. This also helps you from getting it again. 

Gonorrhea and HIV 

Using condoms every time, the correct way, will help reduce the risk of picking up and passing on both gonorrhea and HIV. Research shows that having any STD or having sex with someone with an STD increases your risk of picking up HIV. If you already have HIV, an infection like gonorrhea may increase the amount of virus in your cum and increase the chance you'll pass on HIV to your guy.
